Every team has ups and downs but for the Los Angeles Chargers, sometimes it seems that they just have the downs. The talk amongst Charger fans is that the team is "cursed" because it always seems like something will go wrong. Whether that be injuries, inconsistent play or even what happened in the Wild Card playoff game last season. Los Angeles held a 27-7 lead at halftime and ending up losing the game by a score of 31-30.

It was a bitter defeat for a Chargers team that just always has something happening against them. Brad Gagnon of Bleacher Report listed the Chargers biggest fear for 2023 as them not being able to get over the massive playoff collapse and it's a fair point. Mentally, things like this can take a toll on against a team.

But this Chargers team isn't the same one as old, right? They just played a poor second half where the offense went stagnant and the defense couldn't get the big stop. These are new players from the old Charger teams so the trend couldn't possibly continue, right? Well, for their sake they better hope not.

Los Angeles has put together a very talented roster and one that some around the league feel can truly compete for a Super Bowl. Led by star quarterback Justin Herbert, the sky really is the limit for the Chargers. They just need to get out of their own way.

I don't believe that the Chargers are cursed, just that they have fallen victim to some bad luck over the years. But they can put all of this talk behind them with a good season. Go win a playoff game at a minimum and nobody will be talking about any curse. The Chargers control their destiny and the 2023 season is as important as ever for this franchise.
