The Chargers could benefit from an ugly Bears trend on SNF.

Chargers News: History Not On Bears' Side Ahead Of Crucial SNF Matchup Against LA

In this story:

The Los Angeles Chargers desperately need a win to keep their season from crumbling entirely. The good news is they are playing an equally messy 2-5 Chicago Bears team.

The other good news is that the Chargers appear to be more of a complete team, who can bank on the horrible trend that has plagued the Bears on Sunday Night Football.

Based on analytics pulled by beat writer Kevin Fishbain, the Bears have lost the last six games on SNF, which is coupled with an even worse score average.

Losing the last six contests in primetime is a good indication that the Bears could slip up, allowing the Chargers to begin to pull themselves out of a hole in the AFC. Even better is the average score of 31.7-14.8 means that the Bolts could run away with the game should Herbert string together a few successful offensive drives.

The bad news is that the Bolts will have to deal with facing an exciting rookie in second-stringer Tyson Bagent. Bagent started against the Raiders, and put up a respectable performance. He went 21/29 for 162 yards and 1 TD, which was good for a 97.2 passer rating.

The NFL can be fickle, and just because a rookie goes off one week, that does not necessarily mean he will replicate that success.

The Raiders don't possess as much talent defensively as the Bolts do. The Chargers are also getting healthy on that side of the ball

Derwin James played through an injury against the Chiefs but should be far more healthy this week. Alohi Gilman was out in that same game, but is now listed as "questionable." He was a limited participant on Wednesday and Thursday but is trending towards starting on Sunday night.

JT Woods has also been spotted at practice, working off to the side. Should he not be available to suit up, the Chargers still have recently acquired Jaylinn Hawkins to rely on.

Should the trend of the Bears losing on SNF still ring true this Sunday, the Chargers will pick up a much-needed win.
