Chargers News: How NFL Twitter Feels About LA's Jim Hortiz GM Hire

In this story:
The Los Angeles Chargers have now filled two of their vacancies. Jim Harbaugh is their new head coach, and now Joe Hortiz has agreed to be their new general manager.
After a second interview that took place with Hortiz last week, the Bolts announced they'd officially be hiring him on Tuesday morning. On the surface, this seems like great hiring for the Bolts. Charger and NFL fans all over X gave Los Angeles kudos for hire.

I like the sound of that! https://t.co/KUiGlmo7GE
Hortiz and Harbaugh is a DREAM pairing for the Chargers. Joe Hortiz is a guy I was looking at well before we even moved on from Dave Gettleman. From one of the best front offices in Football for multiple Decades at this point. https://t.co/c2AbUd0n38

I'll say this—In landing Joe Hortiz, Jesse Minter and Ben Herbert, new Chargers coach Jim Harbaugh is off to a flying start. A big piece of his success wherever he's been has been his ability to ID and hire good people, and build stacked staffs.

Looks like he's doing it again.
Hortiz has been with the Baltimore Ravens since 1998 as a personal assistant. He worked his way up to director of player personnel, which he's been since 2019. With the Ravens in his most recent position, he oversaw both college and pro scouting for the Ravens, helping general manager Eric Decosta and head coach John Harbaugh, Jim's brother.
This was a no-brainer hire, as John knows Hortiz well and recommended him to L.A.'s new head coach.
Hortiz will replace former general manager Tom Telesco, who was with the teams for the past 11 years. The 48-year-old will now be charged with bringing glory to the Chargers and their fanbase. It will be a tough hill to climb, but with the right pieces around him, both in the front office and player personnel, things are looking up for the Bolts.
