In this story:

Your Los Angeles Chargers drafted their quarterback of the future and present with the sixth overall pick in the 2020 NFL Draft, Justin Herbert. Herbert came out of nowhere in that upcoming season, making a surprise start early in the season and making the starting spot his own after the game.

That was four years ago now. Herbert is unquestionably the man for the Chargers organization with his tremendous talent that earned him that insane contract he signed before the 2023 season. It's clear Herbert is the focal point of the team and why the Chargers' job is so attractive. The young quarterback knows they must nail this hire, which is why he told Chargers senior insider Eric Smith why he wants to be involved in the search for his new head coach and general manager.

"I know that they're working on that and we have complete faith and trust in the front office to do their job and they've done a great job so far," Herbert said. "Hopefully I'm able to talk with them and offer whatever advice I have.

"Having been in the league for four years, I hope that I'm getting better with understanding and seeing things the way they are," Herbert added.

The chargers must nail these two hires. Herbert is going into his fifth year and will be under his third head coach in 2024. There must be some consistency if they want Hebert to reach his full potential. The next head coach will be vital for his and the team's growth.

Recent history tells us the Chargers aren't capable of hitting on their hires, but Herbert trusts the front office and has the ultimate faith in those guys making the decision.

"We've got complete trust in them and if they came to me and they needed my viewpoint, my perspective, I'd love to offer it," Herbert said. "But like I said, I believe in them. They've done such a great job taking care of us as players.

If the Chargers truly care about Herbert, they will let him give his two cents on the head coach and general manager searches.
