Running back Austin Ekeler's time as a Los Angeles Charger seems to be coming to an end. After a horrific 2023 season, plus the money he could possibly garner and the cap hell the Chargers are in, there seem to be many reasons for this relationship to end.

If that happens, Ekeler could still have some value. There's a chance he could be cheaper for some teams searching for a running back. Nonetheless, where would Ekeler fit in? Well, according to Bleacher Report's David Kenyon, he believes these three NFC teams are the ideal landing spots for Ekeler.

When healthy, he remains a valuable and versatile back. The question is how the 28-year-old is balancing role, money or team contention on what's likely the final pricey contract of his career.

Dallas, for instance, may offer $7-8 million per year to make a splash. Philly is a great fit, although likely on a one-year offer. Or, perhaps the Chicago Bears will offer more playing time and a longer-term contract with less money and a tougher path to the postseason.

Ekeler will be in demand, but his decision is nuanced.

Teams to watch: Chicago Bears, Dallas Cowboys, Philadelphia Eagles

The 28-year-old is coming off his worst season, possibly of his career. Although he missed three games due to a right ankle sprain, he still reached over 1000 scrimmage yards. However, he never looked right after coming back from his injury. There were only four games where he went over 100 scrimmage yards, which was rare compared to how he performed the past two seasons.

However, you could point to injury and how horrible the Chargers were from top to bottom last season for his lack of productivity. Nothing went right for the Bolts, and a new change of scenery could be great for the star running back.

When Ekeler is right, he's one of the NFL's most dynamic and elusive backs. The chances of Ekeler returning to LA are dim, so if 2023 was the last we've seen of him, we wish him the best in his next journey.
