Chargers News: Where LA Stands In Year-End Pundit Power Rankings

In this story:
The Los Angeles Chargers season was simply a disaster. They entered the year ready to push forward after reaching the postseason last year, but instead, they fell completely backward.
Los Angeles finished the year with a record of 5-12 on the season. It was a frustrating, and disappointing year that saw them fire both their general manager and head coach.
The Bolts will now be entering the offseason looking for answers, but we can also look back on the year. While the Bolts dropped games, they also fell down in power rankings across the board.
L.A. came in toward the bottom of most power rankings to end the season. NFL.com has the Chargers coming in at number 29.
Will Jim Harbaugh be on their radar? Is Kellen Moore a candidate to take over? Or do the Chargers have something else up their sleeve? There are some pros to the Chargers job, but the cons can’t be overlooked, even with an ace card in Justin Herbert, whose season ended a month early with a broken finger. The roster might look fairly talented now, but there’s a good chance some high-priced veterans will not be back. This team is going to look different next season, one way or another, but the head-coaching and GM hires should tell us a lot about what their expectations in 2024 will be. Having Herbert should mean they can field a competitive team, but going with first-timers in both key positions might not be met with overt optimism. These next few months will be critical."
Per Eric Edholm of NFL.com
The Athletic also put the Chargers in the 29th spot.
"The Chargers really need a cornerback, but they’re drafting more in elite offensive tackle territory, and they could use one of those, too. We might get a clue which way they are heading after they hire a head coach to replace Brandon Staley. Jim Harbaugh? Seems like an offensive line guy. Bill Belichick? Defense all the way."
Per Josh Kendall of The Athletic
Bleacher Report has them at 30, marking a general consensus about their standing.
"The end of the season was a blessing for the Los Angeles Chargers, because 2023 was a mess. Their season has been nothing short of a disaster. Quarterback Justin Herbert, wide receiver Keenan Allen and edge-rusher Joey Bosa all missed significant time with injuries; the defense was a disaster; and head coach Brandon Staley was fired."
