The Los Angeles Chargers pulled out a surprising interview today, as it was announced that they are hosting former Tennessee Titans HC Mike Vrabel. Vrabel is an accomplished coach who helped the Titans to a 54-45 record and three playoff appearances in five seasons.

Before the announcement that Vrabel would be coming to Southern California, NFL analyst Sean Salisbury sat down with the Bleav in Chargers Podcast to explain to host Matt "Money" Smith and former Chargers RB Lorenzo Neal why Vrabel is the best option.

"I think he's at the perfect. I want a guy who's been kicked in the teeth, who understands players, but doesn't have to let the players run the entire place because you got to know who's in charge, who understands winning, being a number one seed in Tennessee with some lesser talent than other places, who also gets systems and schemes and isn't afraid to hire great coaches."

Salisbury has a fantastic point in that Vrabel has been instrumental in turning the Titans into a team with a winning culture, which is what the Chargers desperately need. They may have made it to the playoffs in 2022, but this season was a far cry from that.

The Chargers need a coach who can institute a culture where players are fighting for one another no matter what. That's not to say that the current team did not fight, but there are layers to the type of inspiration that coaches can provide.

Initially, the top candidate was Jim Harbaugh. Now, the Chargers would do well with giving Vrabel a deeper look.

Vrabel has the kind of experience and attitude that could help turn the Chargers into a dominating team within the AFC for years to come.
