Colts Showing Strong Interest in Defender with Indy Roots

In this story:
It is officially NFL Draft month, and the Indianapolis Colts, as well as the rest of the teams in the NFL, are finishing the final touches on their draft boards.
One prospect that the Colts have a meeting scheduled with is Indy native and Kansas State cornerback Julius Brents, according to NFL Network's Mike Garafolo.
Kansas State CB Julius Brents has a dozen pre-draft visits, including the #Steelers, #Colts, #Ravens, #Panthers and #Titans. Projected by many as a Day 2 pick. Good combination of size and athletic ability. https://t.co/4Hw2ohvRmT

Indiana residents may remember Brents, who is a graduate of Indianapolis' Warren Central High School. He has improved his stock tremendously throughout the draft process to date, putting on a strong performance at both the Senior Bowl and the Scouting Combine.
NFL scouts tell us few guys boosted their draft stock more at @seniorbowl than K-State CB Julius Brents. 6030v w/ record-setting 82 7/8 wing. DB teach tape stuff here. Textbook tight-man focus.

Rarely see 1-on-1 rep where QB doesn’t even throw it. 👀 #TheDraftStartsInMOBILE™️ pic.twitter.com/DvZMizYPCF
Brents is a long, athletic corner who, on paper, fits what the Colts normally covet at the corner position to a tee. With the team's corner room being among the thinnest in the league, this is a position to watch come draft time. On top of his upcoming scheduled visit reported by Garafolo, Brents was in attendance at the Colts' local pro day on Monday, April 10, where the team was able to get an additional up-close look at the corner.

According to the 2023 Indy Draft Guide, here is how Brents fits with the Colts:
Brents has raised his stocks this draft cycle maybe more than any prospect. Early on was getting mid day 3 projections and as of late is projected to hear his name on day 2 of the NFL Draft. Brents’ size at 6’3 198 jumps paired with his arm length at 34’’ will for good reason excite teams, but his play speed not falling off because of it is what pops on screen. Brents’ would be best suited in a heavy zone scheme at the next level which when paired with his size makes him a strong match with the Colts. And on top of it all is an Indiana native himself who graduated from Warren Central High School.
