Eagles Ranked as 'Top-Tier' NFC Team Entering Draft; Cowboys Chasing Philly?

The Philadelphia Eagles, in the eyes of NFL.com, are among the top dogs in the NFC along with the division foe Dallas Cowboys.

While the Philadelphia Eagles reign as NFC Champions, other contenders hope to build rosters that can usurp the title and compete for Super Bowl LVIII.

Ahead of the 2023 NFL Draft, roster hierarchy has been ranked by NFL.com and the Eagles are among the top dogs along with their division foe Dallas Cowboys.

NFL.com explained why.

"The Eagles deserve hearty praise for the way they've kept a championship roster relatively intact following the narrow Super Bowl loss to the Chiefs. They'll continue to build around MVP runner-up Jalen Hurts -- and they've continued to build behind him, too, with the addition of Marcus Mariota."

And more: "Oh, and they have two first-round picks, including one at No. 10 overall. How does Howie Roseman do it? He might be the most resourceful GM in the league today, and he is a master at manipulating the draft, most often to the Eagles' good fortune.”

Philadelphia, led by the newly-wealthy Jalen Hurts and its talented roster, looks poised to again compete in the postseason.

The other two teams ranked in the top tier of the NFC Conference are the Cowboys and the San Francisco 49ers. Currently, San Francisco is the favorite to win the NFC and Philadelphia is the favorite to win the NFC East. Should the Eagles win the NFC East, the long-standing trend of the division not having a repeat winner would snap (Eagles in 2003, 2004.)

The Eagles will continue to add to the roster in the upcoming draft. Eagles general manager Howie Roseman recently compared the draft to a game of poker, and all he wants to do is affect the outcome.

“Nobody has any idea what we're going to do,” Roseman said.

Philadelphia has two first-round selections and has been linked to both defensive and offensive potential stars. Notably, Texas running back Bijan Robinson has only met with two teams, the Eagles and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

The draft will take place at Union Station in Kansas City, Mo. with the first round beginning on April 27.
