NFL Uniform Rankings: Where Do Eagles Land?

With Kelly Green back in the mix, do the Philadelphia Eagles have one of the best uniform sets in the NFL?

In case you've been under a rock, the Philadelphia Eagles plan to wear their Kelly Green throwback uniforms for their Week 7 Sunday Night Football matchup with the Miami Dolphins, and then again in Week 12 against the Buffalo Bills. It will mark the first time that the Eagles have worn Kelly Green -- their primary uniform color from 1935-1995 -- since Week 1 of the 2010 season.

So now that one of the most popular uniforms in NFL history is back in the rotation for the Eagles, where does the kit as a whole fit among the best in the sport? On our FanNation/SI countdown, the Eagles' full set came in at No. 14, between the Carolina Panthers and Baltimore Ravens.

"Since the Eagles last wore Kelly Green, there have been calls for it to return in some form. That will finally happen in 2023, and with it will likely come a push for it -- along with the more realistic bird logo pictured on the sleeves -- to be made the primary look again. However, Midnight Green has been what the Eagles have worn since 1996, a period in which they've been one of the model NFL franchises. Perhaps there's room for the two eras to co-exist."

Among NFC East teams, the Eagles topped both the New York Giants (No. 21) and Washington Commanders (No. 31). However, the division-rival Cowboys did top the Eagles, checking in at No. 4.

Pass rusher Josh Sweat has been among those to suggest that Kelly Green should replace Midnight Green as the primary uniform, but we would argue that there's room for the two to co-exist.

Across the street from Lincoln Financial Field, the Phillies have mixed in their powder blue throwbacks on Thursday day games at Citizens Bank Park since 2018, while continuing to don their well-regarded modern set for the majority of games. The Eagles could do the same with Kelly Green, keeping it as a treat that's mixed in along with their Midnight Green trio of uniforms, which also includes both black and white jerseys.
