Eagles Vs. 49ers Beef: Deebo Samuel ‘Tired of the Trash!’

San Francisco 49ers receiver Deebo Samuel adds to the team's beef with the Philadelphia Eagles after the NFC Championship Game

On Jan. 29, the Philadelphia Eagles defeated the San Francisco 49ers 31-7 in the NFC Championship Game to advance to Super Bowl LVII. However, the story between the two teams didn't end there.

Since the game, multiple 49ers players have trash talked the Eagles for a variety of reasons. The bad blood has continued even months later, with San Francisco receiver Deebo Samuel being the latest to add fuel to the fire.

In an interview with Complex published Thursday, Samuel called the Eagles his most hated team, adding that he is "tired of the trash talk" coming from their players and fans.

"All the trash talk coming from the Eagles fan base and the players, you just get tired of that," Samuel said.

The story doesn't end there, though. Samuel also stated that the 49ers only lost to the Eagles due to numerous injuries, most notably an elbow injury quarterback Brock Purdy suffered early in the game.

“We lost because we played with 10 people,” Samuel said. “ I ain’t going to keep going on about what could’ve happened and what would’ve happened but yeah, it would’ve definitely been a different outcome (if healthy)."

Samuel has been one of the most vocal 49ers about their loss to the Eagles. He made similar comments regarding San Francisco's injuries and the outcome of the game while appearing on First Take the week of the Super Bowl. Then on an appearance on the I Am Athlete podcast, he called Eagles cornerback James Bradberry "trash."

It isn't just Samuel trash talking the Eagles, though. Fellow receiver Brandon Aiyuk said the Eagles got "extremely lucky" in the NFC Championship, and predicted that the Kansas City Chiefs would expose their defense in the Super Bowl. Safety Jimmie Ward, who got into a heated exchange with Eagles receivers A.J. Brown and Devonta Smith before the game, said they "gotta pay" for the altercation. Even kicker Robbie Gould joined in, diminishing Jalen Hurts' skills as a passer.

"But if you make Jalen Hurts play quarterback, you're going to have a pretty solid day on defense," Gould said.

The Eagles and 49ers will meet again in Philadelphia this season, and there surely won't be any love lost between the teams.
