Philadelphia Eagles vs. New York Giants Preview: NFC East Christmas Day Battle

On a three-game losing streak, the Philadelphia Eagles will look to right the ship at home on Monday for a Christmas Day matchup against the New York Giants. The NFC East tilt is the first of two meetings between the two teams over the next three weeks.

The Eagles have been outscored, 95-49, in their last three games and quarterback Jalen Hurts is coming off one of his worst presser ratings in his four-year career.

Hurts, who flew to Seattle separately from the team because of an illness, completed 17 of his 31 passes for 143 yards and two interceptions in the 20-17 loss to the Seahawks on Monday. He added 13 carries for 82 yards and two touchdowns.

The Eagles still control their destiny for the division crown if they win their final three regular-season games. Philadelphia has clinched a playoff spot and remains in the race for the No. 1 overall seed in the NFC playoffs, which comes with a first-round bye and home-field advantage through the conference championship.

The Giants and undrafted free agent rookie quarterback Tommy DeVito were held to a pair of field goals as New York lost, 24-6, to the New Orleans Saints last week.

Philadelphia's defense looks to get after DeVito on Monday, who was sacked seven times by New Orleans. He was evaluated for a concussion but returned to the game. DeVito has completed 64.4 percent of his passes and has a nice 91.5 passer rating with eight touchdown passes to three interceptions.

New York's postseason dreams are not totally dead but the chances are slim. The Giants are currently 12th in the NFC and would hold the sixth overall selection in the 2024 NFL Draft if the season were to end today.

FUN FACT: For the first time in the 99-season history of the Giants, they will play on Christmas day.
