Philadelphia Eagles vs. New York Jets Preview: Can Jalen Hurts, Carter Continue Hot Start?

The Philadelphia Eagles hit the road for a Week 6 matchup against the New York Jets at MetLife Stadium.

The Philadelphia Eagles travel for a Week 6 matchup against the New York Jets at MetLife Stadium on Sunday afternoon. The defending NFC Champion Eagles look to keep their undefeated streak alive against a Jets team that has recovered well after losing Aaron Rodgers to an Achilles injury.

If the Eagles win, they will move to 6-0 and advance to 13-0 in their all-time series against the Jets that dates back to 1973.

The Jets are fresh off a huge road win, beating the Denver Broncos 31-21 and getting revenge for Sean Payton's comments about Nathaniel Hackett. Philadelphia is on the road for the second straight week after topping the Los Angeles Rams at SoFi Stadium, 23-14.

Philadelphia quarterback Jalen Hurts is now 23-3 in his last 26 starts. Hurts has recorded back-to-back 300-yard passing games, and he also had his best running game of the season with 72 rushing yards.

The Eagles defense looks to get after Jets quarterback Zach Wilson, who has given hope to the Jets franchise. On Sunday, Wilson led six scoring drives (5 field goals, 1 touchdown) and completed more than 70 percent of his passes for the second consecutive game.

The Jets are tied for the eight-most sacks allowed this year. New York now faces the challenge of losing starting right tackle Alijah Vera-Tucker, who will miss the rest of the 2023 season due a torn Achilles.

ODDS: Philadelphia is a 6-point favorite vs. the Jets

THE FINAL WORD: Coach Nick Sirianni on Carter:

“Phenomenal player who works really hard to continue to get better, and that's been a phenomenal player through the first five weeks, right and so he's just got to keep doing it,” said Sirianni. “We won't put him in Canton, yet. He's got to just keep going each and every day and getting better, and it's about consistency. He's got the ability to do it.
