Atlanta Falcons-Seattle Seahawks Week 8 Live game chat

The Atlanta Falcons host the Seattle Seahawks looking to end their five-game losing streak. The Seahawks are aiming to bounce back as well after a home loss to the Baltimore Ravens last Sunday.
For live updates and fan reaction from the matchup, stay tuned to our chat all afternoon:
Falcons onside kick attempt going out of bounds.
— Dave Holcomb (@dmholcomb) October 27, 2019
ATL comeback effort is going to fall short. #Falcons fall to the unthinkable 1-7.
Quinn elects to kick FG first. Doesn't matter what order the points come in, need 10.
— Dave Holcomb (@dmholcomb) October 27, 2019
ATL down 7 with 1:17 left, no timeouts. Need to recover an onside kick.
This game in nutshell- #Falcons left 12 (maybe 13) points on the field with two missed FGs & a fumble at the 1-yard line.
— Dave Holcomb (@dmholcomb) October 27, 2019
Both FGs were from beyond 50, but would like to get at least one of those. If so, ATL is within 7 in two-minute drill.
As for fumble at 1, that can't happen
It's just about impossible to recovery an onside kick today. Would like to see the NFL change the rule somehow to find a balance between player safety and re-creating a very exciting play.
— Dave Holcomb (@dmholcomb) October 27, 2019
Right now, the onside kick is dead.
Seattle takes over at about midfield leading by 10.
Touchdown - Schaub to Hooper.
— Dave Holcomb (@dmholcomb) October 27, 2019
But the two-point conversion is no good. Again going to Hooper.
Falcons trail 27-17 with 3:08 left.
Atlanta D comes up with the stop, but Seattle kicker Jason Myers hits his 50-plus yard FG.#Falcons need two TDs & two 2-point conversions in final 5:53 to send this game into OT.
— Dave Holcomb (@dmholcomb) October 27, 2019
#Falcons with second sack on the day. ATL D really needs to stiffen here. Seattle right on the edge of FG range & already lead by 13.
— Dave Holcomb (@dmholcomb) October 27, 2019
Falcons announce Calvin Ridley is being evaluated for a concussion. His return is questionable.
— Dave Holcomb (@dmholcomb) October 27, 2019
ATL was down to the 1, trying to pull within one score. https://t.co/QZ32Xkv6nq
— Dave Holcomb (@dmholcomb) October 27, 2019
Julio Jones having a heck of a game.
— Dave Holcomb (@dmholcomb) October 27, 2019
He's at 112 receiving yards through three quarters. Averaging 16.0 yards per catch with backup Matt Schaub.
Be nice to see the Falcons play that way from the first quarter and not wait until the team is down two to three scores.
— Tom Pollin (@tjpollin) October 27, 2019
ATL gets another much-needed defensive stop.
— Dave Holcomb (@dmholcomb) October 27, 2019
Seattle has minus-3 yards in the third Q.
Matt Bryant hits FG from 47 yards away. Would prob try and keep him inside 50 yards on his attempts moving forward.
— Dave Holcomb (@dmholcomb) October 27, 2019
Seahawks 24, Falcons 11
We have a Falcons sack! Grady Jarrett
— Dave Holcomb (@dmholcomb) October 27, 2019
On Brian Hill's first carry of the game, he takes a toss left 23 yards to the end zone.#Falcons on the board. Two-point conversion is good & all the sudden, it's a 2-possession game.
— Dave Holcomb (@dmholcomb) October 27, 2019
24-8.
Big play to Austin Hooper to start second half.
— Dave Holcomb (@dmholcomb) October 27, 2019
I expect Hooper & Julio Jones will get a lot of opportunities to pad the stats in the second half. #Falcons
The half ends with a sack fumble from Jadeveon Clowney.
— Dave Holcomb (@dmholcomb) October 27, 2019
What a disaster for the #Falcons. Just awful first half.
Another busted Falcons coverage inside the 5-yard line. TD to Metcalf.
— Dave Holcomb (@dmholcomb) October 27, 2019
Seahawks lead 24-0.
In two-minute drill, #Falcons now can't stop Tyler Lockett.
— Dave Holcomb (@dmholcomb) October 27, 2019
Coverage isn't necessarily bad, but the chemistry between Wilson and Lockett is tremendous. He catches everything in his area.
Three straight incompletions from Schaub ends a promising drive.
— Dave Holcomb (@dmholcomb) October 27, 2019
Falcons attempt another 50-plus yard FG. Matt Bryant misses again. This time from 53 yards.
Still 17-0 Seahawks, who will start their next drive at the 43.
Most teams have shredded the Falcons defense through the air. Seattle doing on the ground today.#Seahawks averaging 6.9 yards per carry. Already have 117 rushing yards about 25 mins into this game. https://t.co/U8Zt9KhWpo
— Dave Holcomb (@dmholcomb) October 27, 2019
Schaub & Jones had a great connection down the sideline, but Jones called for OPI.
— Dave Holcomb (@dmholcomb) October 27, 2019
Next play, Seattle LB Mychal Kendricks intercepts Schaub. Seattle set up at Falcons 46.
Quinn didn't go for fourth-and-1 at Seattle 33, but on the next possession, Quinn goes for fourth-and-1 at their own 34-yard line.
— Dave Holcomb (@dmholcomb) October 27, 2019
Schaub finds Jaeden Graham for first down.
The missed ATL FG all the sudden ignited the Seahawks offense. Seattle goes right down the field in six plays.
— Dave Holcomb (@dmholcomb) October 27, 2019
10-0 Seattle.
Quinn elects FG. Matt Bryant misses a 51-yarder.
— Dave Holcomb (@dmholcomb) October 27, 2019
Still 3-0 Seattle. https://t.co/9ak2gD9aTM
Matt Schaub went 7 of 8 for 73 yards in the 1st Q.
— Dave Holcomb (@dmholcomb) October 27, 2019
More than serviceable #Falcons
#Falcons facing fourth-and-1 at Seahawks 33-yard line at start of second Q. Very curious to see if Dan Quinn goes for it.
— Dave Holcomb (@dmholcomb) October 27, 2019
He'll have the quarter break to think about it.
That was Chris Carson's drive. He ran w/ success too, but on a third-and-1 conversion, Seattle gets called for holding. Can't convert third-and-11.
— Dave Holcomb (@dmholcomb) October 27, 2019
Falcons ball after punt but deep in their own territory. 3-0 Seattle.
Seahawks center Justin Britt has a knee injury. He is out for the remainder of the game.
— Dave Holcomb (@dmholcomb) October 27, 2019
Matt Schaub hit this first two pass attempts, but Calvin Ridley can't bring in the third.
— Dave Holcomb (@dmholcomb) October 27, 2019
Looked like he should have caught it, but Shaquill Griffin also had a hand in Ridley's way.
Falcons punt. Seahawks take over at own 26.
Good first run from Devonta Freeman for six yards. Need more from him today without Ryan behind center.
— Dave Holcomb (@dmholcomb) October 27, 2019
Matt Schaub coming out onto the field. He's making his first start since 2015. #Falcons
— Dave Holcomb (@dmholcomb) October 27, 2019
Isaiah Oliver in coverage against receiver Wilson was targeting on the last two pass plays. Both incomplete.
— Dave Holcomb (@dmholcomb) October 27, 2019
Seahawks settle for 43-yard field goal. Seattle 3-0. #Riseup
#Falcons nearly come up with a sack on the first play of the game, but Russell Wilson eludes the rush & hits WR for big gain.#Seahawks inside ATL 25-yard line at 11:51 mark.
— Dave Holcomb (@dmholcomb) October 27, 2019
#Falcons will kick off to begin this game.
— Dave Holcomb (@dmholcomb) October 27, 2019
We'll see MVP candidate Russell Wilson on the field first.
Very interesting. But could another lopsided loss change Blank's mind?
— Dave Holcomb (@dmholcomb) October 27, 2019
Still think Dan Quinn is coaching for his job today. https://t.co/M4XqWmCMqS
