With the 2023 NFL Draft a little under three weeks away, the Jaguars have met with a multitude of different prospects with offensive lineman Carter Warren being the latest name added to a lengthy list.

Though a torn meniscus cut short what was an outstanding career at the University of Pittsburgh, that didn’t stop Warren from participating in the NFL Combine and at Pitt’s Pro Day on March 29th, where Jags offensive line coach Phil Rauscher was in attendance.

But the Jacksonville Jaguars are far from the only team interested in the 24-year-old, with ESPN’s Matt Miller reporting that the Giants, Titans and Jaguars are the teams who have already met with the offensive lineman, with a few more meetings scheduled before the draft.

At 6’5 ½” and 311 pounds with 35 ⅜” arms and 9 ⅛” hands, Warren possesses ideal size and length for tackle-needy teams.

For his collegiate career, the 24-year-old appeared in 39 games over four seasons, earning second-team All-ACC recognition in 2021 and emerging as a consistent blocker in both the running and passing game.

NFL.com analyst Lance Zierlein noted in his draft analysis the significant advantage Warren’s size plays in his overall game, but notes that he still has work to do with his fundamentals.

“Warren possesses the size and length that teams are looking for from the tackle position,” Zierlein wrote. “He plays too upright, which diminishes his effectiveness as a move blocker and in pass protection, but he’s capable in both areas. He can discombobulate pass rushers with well-timed, independent hands that help maximize his length with punching. He can be tardy sliding his feet into position as a run blocker and in protection, which can lead to holding and a lack of power to redirect. He’s a better pass protector than run blocker at this stage, but he could hear his name called in the middle rounds with a chance to become a swing tackle or low-end starter in the future.”

Warren currently holds a sixth-round draft projection per NFL Draft Buzz, but is emerging as a prospect who could hear his name called earlier than expected.
