SI Fantasy Analyst High on Aaron Rodgers's 2023 Potential

Jets' starting QB 'offers great value' for current Average Draft Position

Jennifer Piacenti has a clear message to fantasy football managers — overlook New York Jets' quarterback Aaron Rodgers at your own risk.

The SI Fantasy analyst is high on Rodgers's point-scoring potential in 2023, labeling the future Hall-of-Fame field general as a good "value" pick in "5 Passers Who Will Outperform Their Current ADP."

Rodgers headlines the list that also features Russell Wilson (Broncos), Jordan Love (Packers), Kenny Pickett (Steelers) and Sam Howell (Commanders). Piacenti suggests drafting any one of the five players entails "little risk for a lot of upside."

During what was considered a "down" statistical season for the four-time NFL MVP, Rodgers completed 64.6 percent of passes for 3,695 yards and 26 touchdowns. He was intercepted 12 times.

Reunited with offensive coordinator Nathaniel Hackett, there's reason to think that the 39-year-old will improve upon his 2022 numbers. In three years working with Hackett, Rodgers averaged 37 touchdown passes per season.

One downside to investing in Rodgers as a fantasy option is that he no longer offers any rushing production at this point in his career.

From SI Fantasy's "Quarterback Sleepers":

Aaron Rodgers, Jets

Current Rank: QB 16

I don’t know how much longer Aaron Rodgers will remain at QB16, but at this value, I am grabbing him as my QB2 every single time. Not only is he a four-time MVP, he is now reunited with Nathaniel Hackett -- his offensive coordinator for two of those awards -- in New York. Those who took Rodgers at ADP last season got burned, and that is likely what is creating more value for this season. However, remember Rodgers was playing with a hodgepodge group of primarily inexperienced receivers and a broken thumb for much of the season. Under the eye of Robert Saleh and with Garrett Wilson as a true stud wideout, Rodgers should easily outperform this ADP. The threat of a strong run game in New York and a competitive division also bode well for Rodgers’s arm to take center stage.
