Quarterback Aaron Rodgers Tied for Sixth on 2023 NFL MVP Odds List

Jets' fans hope Rodgers will chase his fifth career MVP award while leading the Green & White

The New York Jets' quarterback could be one of the top-10 favorites for the 2023 National Football League Most Valuable Player award.

Although he remains under Green Bay Packers' control, Aaron Rodgers finds himself listed high up on the NFL MVP odds board. SI Sportsbook currently tabs the 39-year old signal caller as a 16-to-1 shot to win his fifth NFL MVP honor this upcoming season.

Rodgers is one of five players with +1600 odds to secure the regular season award.

Only five other players - Josh Allen (+700), Patrick Mahomes (+700), Joe Burrow (+700), Justin Herbert (+1000) and Jalen Hurts (+1200) - currently carry shorter odds than Rodgers.

Mahomes is the reigning NFL MVP after capturing the award for a second time this past February.

Rodgers last won the MVP voting in 2021 when Nathaniel Hackett was the Packers' offensive coordinator. The accomplished quarterback also captured the honor the year prior, setting career highs in completion percentage (70.7) and touchdown passes (48) while running Hackett's offense in 2020.

Rodgers' performance took a dip in 2022, but his numbers were still better than anything the Jets' quarterbacks produced. His 6.8 yards per pass average was his second-lowest single-season mark since he became Green Bay’s full-time starter in 2008, but it was noticeably higher than the 6.45 yards per attempt that Gang Green passers produced.

While four Jets’ quarterbacks combined for 14 touchdown passes, 14 interceptions and a 56.98 completion percentage, Rodgers accounted for a 64.6 completion percentage while throwing for 26 touchdowns to 12 interceptions.

For those wondering if the Jets and Packers will ever reach a trade agreement for Rodgers, Gang Green general manager Joe Douglas eased those worries in recent days.

While appearing as a special guest at WFAN’s “Boomer and Gio Live” event on April 7, Douglas said, "He's gonna be here."

The four-word answer came in response to an Aaron Rodgers question asked by former Jets quarterback turned media personality Boomer Esiason.

Earlier in the day, Jets’ newly-signed free-agent receiver Allen Lazard shared a photo of Rodgers on his Instagram story.
