Amon-Ra St. Brown: 'Hype Is Crazy' Surrounding Detroit Lions

Lions' Amon-Ra St. Brown embracing the hype surrounding 2023 season.

Members of the Detroit Lions' roster and coaching staff have certainly noticed the drastic increase in attention paid to the team since the conclusion of the 2022 season.

The current state of Detroit sports has been frankly abysmal for the last decade, with no team winning a playoff series since 2013.

Now in their third season at the helm, Lions general manager Brad Holmes and head coach Dan Campbell have the team in position to potentially win the division and host a home playoff game.

With significantly elevated expectations, wideout Amon-Ra St. Brown has noticed the sheer excitement level from supporters.

"My rookie year, we went 3-13-1, (fans) were still there for us," St. Brown said, via Sports Illustrated. "And now, the hype is crazy. When I go back for OTAs and whatnot, you go to the grocery store, you go to the restaurant, whatever you're doing that day. If a fan sees you, they're super excited."

The third-year wide receiver appreciates the loyal support of Lions fans, even during lean times.

Even though the 2022 team started off 1-6, the level of passion did not diminish.

Despite not having won a playoff game since the 1991 season, fans of the Lions remain passionate and one of the most knowledgeable NFL fanbases.

"They have big expectations, but I feel like no matter what, they're always going to be there for us," said St. Brown. "That's something, as a player, I really appreciate, because there's definitely those bandwagon fans that you see with the big teams that win a lot."
