The Detroit Lions have scheduled a prospect visit with Georgia Bulldogs defensive lineman Jalen Carter.

After a disappointing workout at his Pro Day, red flags have started to pile up, especially after Carter had to address a legal matter during the recently completed Scouting Combine.

The talented defensive lineman gained nine pounds following the combine, and question marks have started to arise regarding his decision-making abilities away from the field.

While Detroit general manager Brad Holmes was asked about Carter at the league meetings, he expressed that the personnel department and coaching staff have not yet conducted pre-draft meetings on potential defensive tackle candidates.

"I'm a firm believer still that intangibles are the separators of success," Holmes said, via the team's social media channel. "You know, you look at an Amon-Ra St. Brown, he's a talented player, but his intangibles are as good as it gets. And, that's why he has the success that he has."

Detroit's third-year general manger indicated that each evaluation is unique and the team will always do their due diligence when evaluating whether a player has the necessary skills and is a solid locker room fit.

Holmes noted that football character still reigns supreme in his evaluation process.

"These kids are young college kids, and I've read a lot of things about just from a brain standpoint, where your frontal lobes are developed at that point. Some of the things I did in college, I probably wouldn't want anyone knowing about," said Holmes. "Again, you just got to take it case-by-case, but you kind of asked what is the one thing, and I'd say football character is probably the biggest thing -- just in terms of your passion for the game, your mental toughness, leadership, accountability, work ethic, all that stuff. That always reigns No. 1."
