Report: Lions Believe Game against Chiefs Will Be Played in Germany

In this story:
The Detroit Lions have not played overseas since they were defeated, 45-10, by the Kansas City Chiefs in London at Wembley Stadium in 2015.
Efforts have been made by the NFL over the past few years to bring the game to a global audience.
"Our fans in Germany, Mexico and the UK can look forward to seeing some of the most iconic names and biggest stars in the League and enjoying an incredible series of events," said Peter O'Reilly, NFL executive vice president, club business and league events.
This upcoming season, five AFC teams are scheduled to be the home team as part of a slate of games that will be played overseas.
The Chiefs, Titans, Bills, Jaguars and Patriots will be the home teams on the 2023 international schedule.
It has been announced the Chiefs and the Patriots will host their games in Germany.
According to NFL reporter Ben Volin of The Boston Globe, "The Lions believe they will play the Chiefs in Germany in 2023, per one team official."
Back in 2020, Detroit was scheduled to face off against the Jacksonville Jaguars overseas in London.
Unfortunately, the global pandemic forced the cancellation of all the scheduled international games.
If the Lions end up playing in Germany, wideout Amon-Ra St. Brown will have the opportunity to showcase his German heritage.
The talented wideout's mother is of German descent, and he has previously expressed his appreciation for being exposed to different cultures.
“One of the things that I clearly remember growing up was we’d be on our way to school and she’d make us read 10 minutes of a German book. And, I can’t thank her enough now, because I’m able to read, write and speak German, which is, I think, a beauty," St. Brown recently said during an appearance on SportsCenter. "Another thing that she did with us was make sure we get 10 vocabulary words a day. These were English words. Ten vocab words a day before we could do anything, whether that’s go out with our friends (or) play video games. She made us do that, and back then, I hated it. I always wished I never had to do it. But, now looking back, I mean, I even remember some of those words that we had during those times that she made us do those. It’s really incredible, and it’s quite humbling.”
