The Detroit Lions are reportedly signing veteran backup quarterback Teddy Bridgewater to a reasonable contract.

According to ESPN, Bridgewater's contract is worth a maximum of $5 million, including $2.5 million in guaranteed monies.

With Bridgewater in the mix, the team has a reliable backup that can win NFL games, should something unforeseen occur to starter Jared Goff

The team has elevated expectations, and will Nate Sudfeld, Hendon Hooker and Adrian Martinez being inexperienced, the front office and personnel department felt adding Bridgewater to the roster was in the organization's best interest.

Jared Goff feels training camp is similar to 2022

Despite elevated expectations, Detroit's starting quarterback feels training camp is actually similar to what occurred last season.

"I don't think anything's changed," Goff recently told SiriusXM radio. "And I'm glad. Dan brought it up when he did right away. Like kind of, 'Hey guys, things are different for us externally, but it doesn't change who we are and whatnot.' And to be honest, it feels like training camp felt last year. There's ups and downs. You're working through things. You're trying to get better. And externally, sure, people are more excited. But for us, what we did last year has no credence to what we do this year.

"I've always thought this league is about runs," Goff continued. "It's about getting on win streaks and hopefully not losing streaks. But some teams do, as we've seen. And because we were on a win streak last year, basically at the end of the year, it doesn't mean we're going to start on a win streak this year. So, it's about finding our way into that momentum, will be the goal this year."
