What TE O.J. Howard Can Bring to the Raiders

O.J. Howard can bring veteran leadership to the Las Vegas Raiders tight end room.

The Las Vegas Raiders continued adding more veteran tight ends to their offensive roster this 2023 NFL off-season.

Since the departure of former tight end Darren Waller in a trade to the New York Giants, the Raiders continued to add more veteran tight ends to fill the gap at the tight end position.

The Raiders have so far signed two veteran tight ends. One is veteran tight end Austin Hooper, and the other is veteran tight end O.J. Howard, who signed with the Raiders on March 20. Howard can bring a veteran leadership role to the Las Vegas Raiders tight end room.

Howard has spent a total of six seasons in the NFL. O.J. Howard was a comer first-round pick during the 2017 NFL Draft. The tight end from Alabama was selected in the first round, No. 19 overall, by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in the 2017 NFL Draft. He had a great first rookie season with the Buccaneers in 2017. Howard had a total of 26 receptions for a total of 432 yards. He also had a total of six touchdowns in his rookie season. Howard spent a total of five seasons with the Buccaneers.

Last season, O.J. Howard played for the Houston Texans. He played a total of 13 games with the Texans. Howard had a total of 10 receptions for 145 yards in his short time in Houston. He also finished the season with two touchdowns.

Having a veteran player like O.J. Howard can bring a key leadership role to the Raiders' tight-end roster. Having a leadership role could help newly drafted tight end Micheal Mayer, who is already a key player to watch out for this upcoming NFL season.
