Visionary or Villiam, EPIC Tribute to Raiders Al Davis

Some see Al Davis of the Las Vegas Raiders as a visionary, some as a villain, but make no mistake that no matter the lens you see him through, he is an Icon, and don't miss this.

LAS VEGAS, Nev.--I have often called Al Davis an NFL Icon and an American Icon, and the evidence is undeniable.

Davis' impact on professional sports has changed every professional sports league worldwide, and his influence on the National Football League will never wane.

Raiders legend and my dear friend Matt Millen told me a few years ago about the NFL trying to write Al Davis out of its history books.  You can watch the video above.

Millen told me: “You always knew where you were coming from with Al Davis. He was a treasure trove for the history of the league.”

Millen then shared his deep personal sentiments about the NFL and Al Davis.

“I think personally, right now, as I am looking as the narrative, is being for the NFL going forward, I believe, unfortunately, that they are trying to write him out of league history, and he was probably the main cog, especially. when it came to the merger in 1970, but they kind of blow right over him," Millen said. "But, Al Davis was a true force in the National Football League.”

As part of their hosting Super Bowl LVIII, CBS Sports did an epic video about Al Davis that I encourage you to enlarge to a full screen and watch, which we have featured below.

Whether or not you are a Raiders fan, Al Davis's legacy can't nor shouldn't be forgotten.

As the Raiders website says: "Al Davis' six-decade professional football story, from assistant coach of the Chargers, to head coach and general manager of the Raiders, to Commissioner of the American Football League and finally to principal owner and president of the general partner of The Oakland Raiders -- is a standard that no one in the history of professional football can match for winning and excellence."

From February 27 to March 4, 2024, the NFL Scouting Combine will be held at Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis, Ind.

The NFL Draft will be held in Detroit, Mich., on April 25-27, 2024. The Las Vegas Raiders currently hold the No. 13 overall pick.
