Baltimore Ravens Draft Target: 'Talented' Clemson CB Nate Wiggins

Drafting a cornerback is among the Baltimore Ravens' top priorities in the 2024 NFL Draft.

With two weeks left before the NFL Draft, the Baltimore Ravens are beginning to narrow their focus on finalizing their draft board and the positions they must address.

Among the areas of the team Ravens general manager Eric DeCosta said he's looking to add to is cornerback. DeCosta didn't specify when they'll look to draft one, but he also noted that his team can never have too much depth at the position.

Nov 25, 2023; Columbia, South Carolina, USA; Clemson Tigers cornerback Nate Wiggins (2).

"We would love to add a talented corner at some point in the Draft whether that's first round or second round or third round, whatever that might be – a talented player who can help us," DeCosta said. "That's a position, as you all know, that typically, you never have enough due to injuries and different things – guys will break down through the course of the season."

Among the players who could be near or atop the Ravens' draft board at cornerback is Nate Wiggins. Wiggins was a First-team All-ACC selection by multiple news outlets in 2023 after he had two interceptions and six passes defended in his final season at Clemson. He ran one of his interceptions back for a touchdown last season and took his lone pick of the 2022 season 98 yards for a touchdown off UNC quarterback Drake Maye.

While it's likely Wiggins could be off the board when the Ravens pick in the first round, their team site noted his speed and length would make him a great fit in Baltimore.

"There's no question Wiggins has the speed to keep up with the NFL's swiftest receivers," the Ravens' team site writes. "He ran the second-fastest 40 at the Combine (4.28) behind Texas wide receiver Xavier Worthy (4.21). At 6-foot-1, 173 pounds, Wiggins also has the size and wingspan to matchup with bigger wide receivers. He may be off the board at No. 30, and could be hard to pass up if he's still there."

Humphrey has proven he can still be a No. 1 cornerback but has struggled to stay healthy after only playing 10 games in 2023. Brandon Stephens was a pleasant surprise in his third season as a pro, as he led Ravens cornerbacks with 11 passes defended and two interceptions.

Whether it's early or late, DeCosta knows the importance of continuing to add quality cornerbacks, and if the opportunity presents itself to add one in the draft, he'll likely pull the trigger.

"Our depth has always been tested in the secondary," DeCosta said. This year was no exception, and we were blessed to have some guys, like for instance Ronald Darby, to come in and really help us. So, yes, if we have a chance to draft a corner this year, you can count on us doing that."
