Kyle Van Noy on New Baltimore Ravens Defensive Coordinator: 'We're Going to be Aggressive!'

Despite being two years older than him, Kyle Van Noy believes big things are coming for the Ravens new defensive coordinator.

Few linebackers in the NFL carry the championship pedigree that Kyle Van Noy has with the Baltimore Ravens. The 33-year-old edge rusher out of BYU may be coming off a career season, but his new two-year contract extension with Baltimore is a sign that he can be even better in 2024.

There will certainly be obstacles in his way. The Ravens lost strong defensive talent in free agency like Jadeveon Clowney, Geno Stone, and Patrick Queen. In total, with seven new starters to replace on both sides of the ball, it will be hard for Baltimore to return to the AFC Title game next year.

Arguably the most important member of the Ravens that has left, though is former defensive coordinator Mike Macdonald. The young coaching phenom left to take the head job in Seattle, while 31-year-old Zachary Orr takes over play-calling duties in Baltimore.

Despite actually being older than his new coach, Van Noy has all the confidence Orr will be ready to go for the new season.

"Knowing Zach, we're going to be aggresive," Van Noy explained on the Lounge Podcast. "Zach is an awesome leader. He's a guy you want to play for because he cares about his guys. Relationships matter to him."

There was a question whether Van Noy would even return to the team this year after hitting free agency and coming off a nine-sack season. Despite popularity that could come with a player coming off a career year, the former Super Bowl champion believes his heart was always in the Charm City.

"I'm just so happy and grateful to have my name inked on a team, especially this one," Van Noy said.  "I enjoy coming to work. I enjoy seeing everybody. I enjoy seeing familiar faces. I enjoy being around a bunch of good people and this building has the best people in the league."

Van Noy chose to come back to be a leader for the younger edge rushers on the roster. Now it's about completing the "unfinished business" that the team has been focusing on, and potentially getting further than last year's club.
