Leonard Williams Injury Update: Latest On Seahawks Stud Defender

In this story:
A lot has gone wrong today in the week 4 bout between the Seattle Seahawks and Los Angeles Chargers. The game is on track to challenge records for most total penalties in a single game, with many of them coming in the form of personal fouls. But for the Seahawks, they had managed to largely avoid injury scares until the fourth quarter.
Leonard Williams Injured Late VS Chargers
Leonard Williams, the superstar defensive lineman who has been off to an excellent start so far this season, went down on a Justin Herbert run near the goal line. Star Chargers tackle Rashawn Slater went down on the same play, and both players headed to the sideline for the final play of the drive, where the Chargers scored a goal line touchdown.

Williams went to the blue tent, but then left it before the Seahawks defense took the field again, walking on his own without a limp, and still with his helmet. It’s an encouraging sign, and indicates the injury was ultimately minor, but I’m not sure we see him today with the Seahawks up by two scores later. We’ll await updates on his status with bated breath.
Next Steps For Seahawks
With not much time left in the game and the Seahawks trying to hold onto a lead, there may not be a significant need for Big Cat to return today. But next week, with the Seahawks due to take on the currently undefeated San Francisco 49ers, getting Leonard back on the field is going to be extremely important. Without him, this defense becomes much less dangerous.

Byron Murphy II, who has a sack today, is still among the best defensive tackles in football, and Jarran Reed is a good veteran. Rylie Mills is also a frisky reserve. But Leonard Williams is among the best in football, and he forms the foundation of a great pass rush and run defense. Luckily, early indications are positive that the injury is relatively minor, if such a thing exists.
Big Cat The Beast
Leonard Williams recorded a sack in each of the first three games this season, and has been his generally disruptive self at virtually all times. In what has been a hideous game for much of its runtime, hopefully things are not capped off with an injury to a crucial player. But for now, the Seahawks must focus in on trying to seal this victory, and then figure out Big Cat's situation.
