WATCH: Penn State EDGE Chop Robinson Shows Off Blazing Speed in 40-Yard Dash

Penn State defensive end Chop Robinson told reporters on Wednesday he wanted to post a 4.4-second time in the 40-yard dash at the NFL Combine. Mission accomplished. The former Nittany Lion ended Thursday's workout with the fastest time among defensive linemen.

INDIANAPOLIS — Chop Robinson wanted to hit a specific time in the 40-yard dash at the 2024 NFL Scouting Combine. The Penn State defensive lineman accomplished that mission.

On Wednesday, Robinson told reporters his goal was to cross the finish line in 4.4 seconds or faster. On Thursday, he hit the mark.

Robinson looked as gazelle-like as is humanly possible for a 254-pound edge rusher. He posted an official time of 4.48 seconds in the 40-yard dash, per the NFL Draft's X account.

Robinson's impressive time was the fastest among defensive linemen during Thursday's workouts at Lucas Oil Stadium. The top-three times among the position group for the event were:

  • Chop Robinson, Penn State — 4.48 seconds
  • Mohamed Kamara, Colorado State — 4.57 seconds
  • Jared Verse, Florida State — 4.58 seconds

Robinson was a prospect many had their eyes on heading into workouts at the NFL Combine. His combination of size, speed and talent makes him an appealing prospect for several organizations across the league.

Earlier in the week, Robinson revealed the origin of his unique nickname: Chop. He said it dates back to his birth, when he was born at 14 pounds. His family also calls him "Plump."

Robinson's family might have to come up with a new nickname after seeing his lightning-quick speed at Lucas Oil Stadium on Thursday. Maybe something like, "Flash."

Just a thought.

  • TERRION ARNOLD'S CONFIDENCE: Alabama cornerback Terrion Arnold hasn't taken a snap in the NFL yet, but he believes he's fully capable of becoming a Pro Football Hall of Famer. He's easily one of the most confident players at this year's Scouting Combine. CLICK HERE
  • KHYREE JACKSON'S MINDSET: Drafting a cornerback may not be the highest priority for the Tennessee Titans, but it's still a need. If the team wants a playmaker with a different mindset, Ran Carthon and Brian Callahan might take a long, hard look at Oregon cornerback Khyree Jackson. CLICK HERE
  • COMPASSION OVER COMPETITION: The Browns let offensive line guru Bill Callahan out of his contract so he could work with his son, first-year Tennessee Titans coach Brian Callahan. Said Cleveland coach Kevin Stefanski: "It's a kid's game. It also is a business. But that doesn't mean you don't treat people the right way and treat them with respect and empathy." CLICK HERE
