Titans NFL Draft Daily (Feb. 15): Potential 2nd-Round Options at Offensive Tackle for Tennessee

A recent ESPN 2024 NFL Mock Draft has the Tennessee Titans selecting Washington receiver Rome Odunze with the No. 7 pick. What are the offensive tackle options in the second round? Jordan Morgan, Patrick Paul and Kingsley Suamataia are a few names to watch.

For Thursday's content, we're piggybacking off a previous edition of Titans NFL Draft Daily. On Wednesday, we talked about ESPN's Field Yates projecting that the Tennessee Titans would select Washington wide receiver Rome Odunze with the No. 7 pick in the 2024 NFL Draft. That decision would leave a glaring need at offensive tackle.

So, let's pretend Yates is correct. We'll go ahead and assume that, in two months, general manager Ran Carthon and coach Brian Callahan believe addressing wide receiver depth is a bigger priority than finding a left tackle in the first round.

It's almost a guarantee the Titans would then look to the second round to grab an offensive tackle. But who would be available? First, let's revisit Yates' mock draft — which only projects the first round.

Here are the offensive tackles Yates believes will be first-round selections on Thursday, April 25:

  • No. 5 pick, Los Angeles Chargers: Joe Alt, Notre Dame:
  • No. 10 pick, New York Jets: Olu Fashanu, Penn State
  • No. 14 pick, New Orleans Saints: Tyler Guyton, Oklahoma
  • No. 18 pick, Cincinnati Bengals: Taliese Fuaga, Oregon State
  • No. 21 pick, Miami Dolphins: Troy Fautanu, Washington
  • No. 27 pick, Arizona Cardinals: JC Latham, Alabama
  • No. 31 pick, San Francisco 49ers: Amarius Mims, Georgia

Again, for the sake of argument, let's assume all seven players are off the board by the time the Titans' second-round pick arrives. Who are the best options still on the board?

Three solid candidates include Jordan Morgan (Arizona), Patrick Paul (Houston) and Kingsley Suamataia (BYU).

Jordan Morgan, Arizona

  • Measurements: 6-feet-6, 320 pounds
  • PFF grade: No. 28 overall prospect

Morgan has been rising up draft boards this year and could work his way into the first-round conversation. But because of the amount of skilled players available at his position, there's a good chance the former Arizona standout slips to the second round.

Morgan was a first-team All-Pac-12 selection as a senior in 2023. He received invitations to the Reese's Senior Bowl, as well as the 2024 NFL Scouting Combine

Last season for the Wildcats, Morgan allowed just two sacks. Even as a second-round pick, he may be an immediate starter for the Titans.

Patrick Paul, Houston

  • Measurements: 6-feet-7, 315 pounds
  • PFF grade: No. 49 overall prospect

An offensive tackle flying a little under the radar might be Paul, who won raves during the Senior Bowl week. He was considered a "Day 1 winner" of practice by NFL Draft Files and has the versatility to play multiple positions along the offensive line. He believes he's best suited at left tackle, though.

Paul played 778 snaps for the Cougars in 2023 and allowed just one sack and seven quarterback hurries. What makes him one of the more interesting prospects? He loves to box. That agility and hand speed could really help Tennessee at left tackle.

Paul was a three-time all-conference selection (two in the AAC and one in the Big 12 after Houston switched conferences) and earned an invitation to the NFL Scouting Combine.

Kingsley Suamataia, BYU

  • Measurements: 6-feet-6, 315 pounds
  • PFF grade: No. 59 overall prospect

Suamataia is the lowest-ranked of the three on this list, but he's still a solid option worth considering if the Titans are in the market for an offensive tackle in the second round of the NFL Draft.

Drafting Suamataia would probably be more of a work-in-progress pick. He showed great footwork during the Senior Bowl, but got pushed back a little too much at both left and right tackle. Still, he seems to have a pretty high ceiling.

Suamataia also received an NFL Scouting Combine invitation. He was a second-team All-Big 12 selection in 2023. In 2022, he played more than 300 pass-blocking snaps and didn't allow a single sack.
