NASHVILLE - Blaine Bishop was a star in the early days of the Tennessee Titans existence in Nashville.

A fierce, hard-hitting safety, Bishop moved with the team when it relocated from Houston and was part of the only squad in the franchise’s history to reach the Super Bowl.

He spent nine seasons handling the middle of the field for the Titans before moving to Philadelphia for the final season of his career.

Of late, Bishop has been starring in a different field as a radio co-host on Nashville’s 104.5 The Zone, where he is half of The Blaine and Mickey Show along with co-host Mickey Ryan.

Now add high school football coach to the list of titles Bishop had to his name.

Bishop has joined the coaching staff, where he will work with the safeties at Independence High School in Thompson Station, just outside Nashville in Williamson County.

“We’re lucky to have him,” Independence head coach Scott Stidham said of Bishop, according to an article by Maurice Patton of Main Street Preps. “Any time you can get somebody with the knowledge to help our kids get better — that’s what we look for as coaches, someone that loves kids first and will be loyal and hardworking.”

This is not Bishop's first experience as a high school coach, having spent time on the Davidson Academy staff in 2011.

Bishop is still in tune with the Titans, where as part of his radio duties, the former All-Pro is often at the team's practices and his role in the Titans Radio Network's pregame show.
