Titans CB Kristian Fulton Shines at Titans Practice, Draws Praise from Mike Vrabel

The Tennessee Titans need a big year from cornerback Kristian Fulton and Saturday was a nice sign that Fulton is ready to deliver just that.

NASHVILLE —The biggest highlight from Tennessee Titans' practice on Friday was a one-handed catch from DeAndre Hopkins over cornerback Kristian Fulton, but Fulton responded in a big way on Saturday with multiple nice plays and consistent tight coverage.

Fulton made back-to-back plays during a seven-on-seven period where he stopped a deep throw to Nick Westbrook-Ikhine with good coverage and then the very next play knocked a pass away from Kyle Philips.

It didn't stop there though, Fulton also got some revenge on Hopkins for the highlight play Hopkins put on him during Friday's practice. Fulton had tight coverage on a pass intended for Hopkins during a full-team period and the ball fell to the ground.

Fulton turned a good practice into some praise from his head coach on back-to-back days. Mike Vrabel gave Fulton a shout out on Friday, but came back to the well to commend Fulton for the shape that he is in at this point in the season.

"(Fulton) tries to stay consistent. Be good in the multiple coverages that we are asking him to play. Just his physical demeanor, and again, there were times last year, just early on, where his rehab and the things he was going through, just physically he looked better. I was telling him this morning at breakfast, 'you at your weight,' and he was monitoring that. We have guys that have different problems than the head coach," Vrabel joked, "that have trouble keeping weight on."

"We monitor that and making sure on these hot days that they're eating and Lauren and Frank and Todd are on top of that. That's part of Kristian, just his overall strength and size that he can be 195 lbs and still be athletic and still be able to run and transition. So far, so good."

The Titans need Fulton to play his best football this season as they try to win as many games as possible, but it is also worth noting that Fulton is going into the last year of his rookie contract and he desperately needs a good season to secure the pay day he surely is hoping for.

It will be mutually beneficial for both sides if things continue on the path they are currently going. Like Vrabel said, so far, so good.
