NASHVILLE - Trading Ryan Tannehill has been one of the most discussed topics since the end of last season, and there have been more than a few rumors to that end, including recent reports that Green Bay would be a fit for a trade to the Packers.

The logic of the Packers trading for Tannehill stems from the fact that current projected starter Jordan Love has appeared in just ten games, attempting 83 total passes during the first two seasons in the league, playing behind Aaron Rodgers.

Furthermore, the backups competing for the backup role, Sean Clifford and Danny Etling, have combined for zero pass attempts in the NFL.

Trading for Tannehill would give the Packers a solid, experienced backup to Love, and should the new starter struggle, Tannehill could take over.

While that logic is solid from the Packers side of the equation, those people sharing this stuff failed to view it from the Titans lens for the same reason.

If the Titans trade Tannehill, they would be left with a rookie starter in Will Levis and a second-year backup Malik Willis, who has thrown just 61 career passes in replacing the injured Tannehill last season.

Suppose it makes sense for the Packers to trade for an established quarterback to back up their new young starter. Why would it make sense for the Titans to trade that established quarterback away and leave themselves in an almost identical position as the Packers are trying to correct?

That seems like some illogical logic to me.

The Packers are among the most likely teams to want to try to make a deal for Tannehill, as they have questions about Love and their other options. However, it would take some creative contract work to make the deal work, as they currently have just over $16 million available under the cap.

For the Titans, it makes financial sense to trade Tannehill and clear that cash, but the majority of the best free agents are already off the market, so who would they target that might improve their current situation?

While there are possibilities, does it make sense to make this move and leave yourself with a rookie and a backup that most believe the Titans would like to trade away as your options for this season?

Not in any logical world I'm looking at, but then the illogical logic behind this exists and some people are willing to look at this as a possibility.
