Tennessee Titans Week 7 Power Rankings Roundup: Titans Fall to the Bottom Accelerates

The Tennessee Titans are falling fast in the national power rankings, understandably so, after dropping their last two games and falling to 2-4.

The Tennessee Titans not only dropped to 2-4 after a loss to the Baltimore Ravens in Week 6, but they also likely lost their starting quarterback, Ryan Tannehill, for 2-6 weeks as he recovers from an ankle injury.

The national opinion of the Titans was never high this year, or any year for that matter, so every win for the Titans was met with skepticism and every loss with confirmation. This year though, the outside opinion may have been right and the Titans may truly be the bottom-five team some expected.

We see the lack of national confidence in the Titans in full force in today's power rankings round up.

NFL Network - Eric Edholm: Tennessee Titans - 26th

"Ryan Tannehill’s ankle injury sets up a possible preview for the rest of the season at quarterback. When Tannhill left Sunday’s loss to the Ravens, it was Malik Willis who replaced him. Willis did a pretty decent job in the fourth quarter, even if Tyjae Spears’ 48-yard screen might have inflated the QB’s stats a bit. But with Tannehill’s future with the team already in question before the injury, you can bet the Titans will consider taking a look at Will Levis, too. Levis has been QB3 in all six games, but now has the door open to show Tennessee why it drafted him with the 34th overall pick in the spring. The Titans aren’t cooked at 2-4, but it feels like evaluating both Willis and Levis supersedes winning at all costs now."

The Titans aren't quite in the bottom five according to Eric Edholm's rankings, but they are the lowest ranked team with two wins. With more losses likely on the docket, the Titans only stand to continue to fall and that may be what's best.

ESPN: Tennessee Titans - 26th

The Titans are again in a similar spot as they sit as the lowest ranked team with two losses. The Titans dropped five spots in ESPN's group rankings from where they were in Week 6. Far away from their AFC South competitors who all sit at least 4 spots or more ahead.

CBS Sports - Pete Prisco: Tennessee Titans - 25th

"They have issues on offense in a big way, and now Ryan Tannehill is hurt. It could be Malik Willis time."

Prisco has been higher on the Titans than most in his weekly rankings, but not now. The Titans drop eight spots and only sit above one other two-win team and that is the Minnesota Vikings.

The Athletic: Tennessee Titans - 20th

"It’s time for the Titans to figure out what’s going on at quarterback. Ryan Tannehill is in his 11th season, and his passing success rate (40.1 percent) is the lowest of his career. Tannehill’s passer rating (71.9) ranks 32nd in the league this year. He left Sunday’s game with an ankle injury, and second-year backup Malik Willis looked good — 4-for-5 for 74 yards and rushed three times for 17 yards. But then there’s the question of Will Levis, who was taken with the 33rd pick of this year’s draft but hasn’t thrown a pass this season."

The Titans dropped their second straight game and their quarterback got hurt and somehow they jumped up four spots in the Athletic's rankings. The Titans are ranked ahead of multiple teams with three wins in a big surprise.

Bleacher Report: Tennessee Titans - 26th

"The Tennessee Titans are in trouble. It's not just that the Titans are 2-4 after falling to the Baltimore Ravens in London. Or that Tennessee sports the 27th-ranked offense in the league. Now that struggling offense could be without its starting quarterback for the foreseeable future. In the loss to Baltimore, Ryan Tannehill suffered an ankle injury that left the veteran signal-caller on crutches after the game—and visibly frustrated while talking to reporters."

Same story here for the Titans at 26. The Titans will head into the bye in hopes they can get the best out of one of their young quarterbacks and get some wins, but it looks like the Titans could continue to drop in these rankings.
