Report: Former Vols Quarterback Hendon Hooker Meeting With Titans

There would be much rejoicing in Tennessee if former Volunteer quarterback Hendon Hooker were to be drafted by the Tennessee Titans. A report on Sunday afternoon indicates the two parties will indeed be meeting before the NFL Draft.

NASHVILLE - A report from Aaron Wilson of KPRC2 TV in Houston, former University of Tennessee quarterback Hendon Hooker is scheduled to meet with the Texans, and multiple other teams, including the Tennessee Titans in the coming days leading up to April's NFL Draft.

While it should come as no surprise that the Titans, like every other NFL franchise, are doing their due diligence in vetting players, this particular player would be a very popular addition to the Titans roster if selected.

Hooker suffered a torn ACL in the Volunteers' lost to South Carolina late in the season. Still, reports indicate that his recovery is ahead of schedule, and the thought is that he could be ready to participate in training camp at least partially and likely back for the start of the season.

In his final season in Knoxville, before his injury, Hooker passed for 3,135 yards and 27 touchdowns against just two interceptions, leading the Vols to a 10-2 mark in games he started, including Tennessee's first win over Alabama in 14 seasons.

Some draft pundits currently consider Hooker as the fifth-best quarterback in this class and a likely second-round selection.

Recently the Titans had been linked to a possible trade with Chicago to obtain the top selection in an effort to find their quarterback of the future. However, Carolina secured that position earlier in the week, meaning the Titans are likely out of range of any of the top four quarterbacks currently holding first-round grades.
