Titans Deciding On Date For Oilers Throwbacks

In this story:
NASHVILLE - Fans of the Tennessee Titans have always appreciated their franchise's history and had an affinity for the "Luv Ya Blue" Oilers uniforms, so it's not surprising that one of the biggest days for fans comes when the team wears the retro duds.
Such is the case this season, as the Titans are considering which date and team they will wear those uniforms against in 2023.
Of course, many fans would love to see the Titans throwbacks when they face their AFC South rival, Houston Texans, in Nashville. Others feel that wearing them versus Houston will cause ill will in this civil rivalry.
However, one longtime Houstonian would love to see the Titans take this shot at their former city and fanbase.
Longtime former Houston Chronicle legend John McClain took to Twitter to respond to a comment from a local media member on this issue.
Since Amy Adams Strunk has resided in the Houston area her entire life and knows how it would infuriate fans in her hometown, I doubt she's going to do it against the Texans. I hope she does. It would ignite the long-overdue rivalry!

While I agree with McClain it is unlikely Adams-Strunk and the Titans staff will choose to do this against Houston, McClain is correct that the move would spice up the rivalry between the two franchises and cities.
How exactly has this divisional rivalry, with the history these two franchises hold, been able to remain "civil" over the years?
Since the inception of the Texans franchise in Houston, neither team has managed to be good at the same time. When the Titans were good, the Texans were just getting started. When the Texans got good, the Titans were struggling, and when Titans Owner Bud Adams passed away, many of those who held the biggest grudge against the Titans softened their hatred of their former franchise.
Perhaps McClain is correct, and the Titans need to do this to fire up their rivalry with their former city. After all, there's no love lost between the Titans and their other division rivals in Indianapolis and Jacksonville.
