XFL Embraces Gambling
The NFL season may have ended last weekend with the Chiefs defeating the 49ers in Super Bowl LIV but there will still be professional football on your televisions this weekend as the XFL returns for its opening weekend in 2020.
Eight teams, four games, spread over Saturday and Sunday gives fans and gamblers plenty of football action to watch and wager.
While other professional sports tip-toe around betting on games, the XFL is pushing its chips and going all in on gambling. During my conversation with XFL Commissioner Oliver Luck, he admitted the league wants to “embrace the gambling community” and added part of the XFL’s strategy in attracting fans is “recognizing what is known for years, that football fans like to gamble.” Watch the video above for Commissioner Luck’s full conversation on why the XFL is embracing gambling and fantasy football.
The XFL’s broadcasting partners, ESPN, Fox, and ABC is encouraging their broadcasters to incorporate gambling into the play-by-play commentary along with using on-screen graphics to display the Over/Under and Spread. In other words, gambling is going to be heavily integrated into the TV broadcast.
