PITTSBURGH (AP) Marc-Andre Fleury stopped 29 shots for his NHL-leading fifth shutout as the Pittsburgh Penguins edged the New Jersey Devils 1-0 on Tuesday night.

Fleury matched his career high for shutouts in a season and was rarely tested by the Devils, who have just one victory in their last eight games.

Evgeni Malkin scored the game's only goal 3:32 into the third period, taking a feed from Blake Comeau and tucking it under Cory Schneider's outstretched arm for his 12th score of the season.

Schneider made 22 saves but received little help. New Jersey generated few quality chances against Fleury, who has won six straight at home against the Devils.

New Jersey forward Jaromir Jagr left in the second period following a vicious collision with Pittsburgh's Robert Bortuzzo. Scott Gomez played 22 minutes in his return to the Devils after being signed on Monday.

Islanders 3, Senators 2, OT

UNIONDALE, N.Y. (AP) - Thomas Hickey scored 3:06 into overtime as the Islanders started December just as they ended November, with a victory.

The defenseman got his second of the season with a wraparound goal to help the Islanders improve to 8-0 in games decided after regulation.

Jaroslav Halak, the NHL's No. 1 star last week, wasn't busy but earned his team-record-tying 10th straight win with a 16-save performance. Brock Nelson scored in the second period for the Islanders, who have won seven of eight and 12 of 14, and Ryan Strome connected in the third.

Mike Hoffman and Clarke MacArthur scored for Ottawa.

Hurricanes 2, Predators 1

RALEIGH, N.C. (AP) - Jeff Skinner had a goal and an assist to lead the Hurricanes, snapping the Predators' four-game winning streak.

Skinner scored his sixth goal of the season late in the first period, and he assisted Victor Rask 55 seconds into the third for a 2-0 lead.

Mike Ribeiro cut the lead to 2-1 with 4:46 remaining in regulation for Nashville. Carolina failed to clear the zone, and Roman Josi sent the puck back toward the crease, where Ribeiro gathered it, then turned and beat Cam Ward.

The Predators earned their first power play of the game with a minute left, but couldn't score on a 6-on-4 opportunity after pulling goaltender Pekka Rinne.

Andrej Sekera blocked a shot in the final five seconds to seal the victory for Carolina.

Canucks 4, Capitals 3

WASHINGTON (AP) - Daniel Sedin scored two of Vancouver's three power-play goals and assisted on the other.

Sedin scored the winner at 9:39 of the third period when he took a pass from twin brother Henrik in the left circle and fired a shot to the far side of Braden Holtby.

The Canucks, 2-1 on their seven-game road trip, bounced back from Sunday's loss at Detroit. They haven't dropped back-to-back games since mid-October.

Radim Vrbata added a power-play goal and an assist, and Derek Dorsett also scored for Vancouver. Henrik Sedin had two assists, and Ryan Miller finished with 23 saves.

John Carlson had two goals and an assist, and Brooks Laich also scored for Washington, which is 1-3-1 in its last five games.
