Liverpool ‘Turn to Real Madrid Star’ After Failing With $82 Million Winger Bid

Liverpool’s search for attacking reinforcements could be one of the stories of the final week of the transfer window.

Liverpool are reported to have made an approach for Real Madrid striker Endrick on a search for attacking reinforcements which has also featured two failed bids for Brighton & Hove Albion winger Yankuba Minteh.

The Reds are searching for a replacement to Mohamed Salah and have been pursuing Paris Saint-Germain’s Bradley Barcola, although an asking price as high as $190 million (£140 million) has led Liverpool to consider other options.

One of those is Minteh, long touted as a potential target and now confirmed by The Athletic to be on the radar. Two offers, the second of which was worth as much as $82 million (£60 million) and has been rejected by Brighton.

Brighton are expected to demand up to $95.5 million (£70 million) for Minteh, who could miss the next three months as he recovers following surgery on a leg injury.

Meanwhile, The Times note an approach for Real Madrid’s Endrick has also been rebuffed, with Los Blancos determined to keep hold of the exciting youngster.

Part of Madrid’s reluctance to do business may stem from the fact that, according to Fabrizio Romano, Liverpool’s interest revolved around a permanent deal, either immediately or as an initial loan. Such proposals were ruled out by those right at the top of the Bernabéu.

A number of Liverpool fans have been growing increasingly concerned by the club’s limited movement in the transfer market.

Defender Jérémy Jacquet’s arrival was organized back in February, so the only fresh deals this summer is the signing of winger Víctor Muñoz and a move to bring Ronald Araújo in on loan from Barcelona.

Liverpool did fail with an early bid for Yan Diomande, who subsequently joined Real Madrid, but the focus on an expensive deal for Barcola has left the Reds facing a nervous end to the transfer window. new manager Andoni Iraola urged fans to relax.

“We’ll definitely sign players, yes,” Iraola promised Sky Sports. “I hope more than one. 

“The thing is, me as a coach selfishly, I want the players for the first day of preseason so everyone is ready to go, but also I understand how this works. 

“Some days you have to wait until the end. The important picture is the one we have on Sept. 1 and I hope, because it’s true that we are still quite thin, that we can have more help from here until the end of the market. “
