Manchester United return from nearly two weeks of rest when they travel to Everton in the Premier League on Monday night.

Due to their FA Cup third round exit, the Red Devils haven’t been in action since their stalemate at West Ham United on Feb. 10—the first match United had failed to win since the hiring of interim manager Michael Carrick.

Four prior victories lifted the 20-time English champions back into the Premier League top four and they will be desperate to return to winning ways on Merseyside as they continue the hunt for vital Champions League qualification.

  • ⚠️ Key injuries, doubts: Matthijs de Ligt, Patrick Dorgu, Mason Mount.
  • 🔢 Predicted formation: 4-2-3-1

Carrick has confirmed that while Mason Mount is closing in on his comeback from injury, the Englishman won’t be available for the journey to the Hill Dickinson Stadium.

Matthijs de Ligt is slightly behind Mount on the road to recovery as his lengthy absence continues, while Patrick Dorgu is still sidelined after a nasty injury last month at Arsenal.

While Carrick will be hesitant to change a winning formula, the impressive form of Benjamin Šeško from the bench—crucial last-gasp goals scored against Fulham and West Ham—will offer him food for thought.

Carrick could name an unchanged XI. | FotMob

GK: Senne Lammens—The United stopper will not expect to be worked too much by an Everton side who have scored just 29 goals in 26 Premier League games this term.

RB: Diogo Dalot—Dalot misses an awkward battle with Manchester City loanee Jack Grealish, who is a notable absentee on Everton’s left flank. It could be a duel with on-loan Chelsea talent Tyrique George instead.

CB: Harry Maguire—Maguire has been terrific for United since his injury return, covering for the De Ligt-sized hole in Carrick’s backline.

CB: Lisandro Martínez—Thierno Barry and Beto are hardly prolific goalscorers, but their physicality and aerial ability could cause issues for the diminutive Argentine.

LB: Luke Shaw—Shaw has the unenviable task of thwarting Iliman Ndiaye, the Senegal forward certain to be Everton’s leading attacking threat. The Englishman struggled in United’s shock defeat to the 10-man Toffees back in November.

DM: Casemiro—The Brazil international’s farewell tour has been hugely successful to date and another commanding midfield display is expected at the Hill Dickinson Stadium.

DM: Kobbie Mainoo—The midfielder has humbled former manager Ruben Amorim since being trusted in the engine room by Carrick, delivering consistently impressive performances.

RW: Amad Diallo—Amad has come under fire for his lack of influence in recent games. However, Carrick will perhaps give the Ivorian a little more time.

AM: Bruno Fernandes—United’s skipper has naturally excelled since moving back into an attacking midfield role, allowing him to really hurt opposition defences. He leads the league for assists (12) and chances created (78).

LW: Matheus Cunha—Cunha is not a natural winger but has performed admirably in the role since Carrick’s arrival. It’s the only way to get him and Fernandes into the team at present.

ST: Bryan Mbeumo—Šeško will feel hard done by to miss out again following his recent contributions as a substitute but Carrick prefers the more mobile Mbeumo leading the line. The Cameroon international’s three goals and assist under his tutelage says it all.
