Currently six games behind the Magic for the eight seed in the NBA’s Eastern Conference the Wizards have some ground to make up when the league returns on July 31st. FanDuel Sportsbook lists Washington as a heavy underdog to make the playoffs. The Wizards currently have odds of +1400 to make the post-season and -3500 to miss out on the playoffs.

Sports Illustrated’s gambling analyst Corey Parson highlights what needs to happen for the Wizards to punch their ticket to the post-season and if gamblers should wager on the Yes or No on their playoff prop bet.

Read the transcript for Parson’s analysis:

Kaitlin O'Toole: The NBA futures betting market is back and we are breaking down the Washington Wizards. Joining me now is SI's fantasy and gambling analyst Corey Parson. Corey, where were the Wizards at when the season paused?

Corey Parson: Well, The Wizards basically had no shot at making the playoffs when the season paused. They were in the midst of a disappointing season. They couldn't really get no consistency. They played poorly on defense. But one thing they did have was Bradley Beal and Bradley Beal was becoming one of the best young players in the NBA. He was really lighting up the scoreboard. He was an all star snub and that motivated him. He just kept scoring and scoring and scoring. But he couldn't turn those big games into wins.

Kaitlin O'Toole: All right, so it sounds like you're a little bit hopeful. How far do you think the Wizards can go this playoff season?

Corey Parson: You know, Kaitlin, I think this is going to be interesting going inside this bubble. I think a team like the Wizards that was headed for the lottery, they now have a chance, they can get hot. All they really have to do is win two more games than the Nets or the Orlando Magic and they'll force a play-in, and you get a one game series going up against a guy like Bradley Beal at +1400. Yeah I'll put a couple of dollars on the Wizards to make the playoffs.
