Unveiling the Class of 2022 SI99 Prospect Rankings

Sports Illustrated unveils Postseason SI99 ranking of nation’s top high school football prospects

Sports Illustrated and SI All-American unveiled its Postseason SI99 -- the top high school football seniors from across the nation in the class of 2022 -- on Tuesday.

SI ranks Travis Hunter, a two-way star out of Suwanee (Ga.) Collins Hill High School, as the No. 1 wide receiver and player in the nation. He committed to Jackson State on Signing Day. Ranked second is the nation's top quarterback in Austin (Texas) Westlake Cade Klubnik, who is already on campus at Clemson. South Florida-area pass rusher Shemar Stewart, who signed with Texas A&M, Missouri wide receiver signee Luther Burden and Texas A&M interior defensive line signee Walter Nolen rounds out the top five.

Hunter is the second-straight SI99 No. 1 recruit to hold the title from the preseason ranking to the postseason, and final call. Quarterback Caleb Williams went wire to wire in the class of 2021. Originally from south Florida, Hunter played high school football in the Atlanta area. Prospects are listed where they attended high school during the 2021 season.

The states most represented in the SI99 are Texas with 15 prospects and Florida at 14, followed by Georgia (11), California (8), Alabama and Louisiana (6), Ohio, Missouri and South Carolina with four each, Tennessee and Mississippi with three, North Carolina, Oklahoma, Michigan, Washington and Arizona with two each along with one SI99 member from Pennsylvania, Iowa, Illinois, Nevada, Nebraska, New Jersey, Maryland and Virginia.

The college programs most represented by current verbal commitments include Texas A&M (13), Alabama (12), Georgia (11), Ohio State (8), Texas (7), Clemson (5), Florida, Notre Dame, USC and Penn State (4), LSU and Auburn (3), while Arizona, Jackson State, Miami, Michigan, Mississippi State, Missouri, Oklahoma and Tennessee hold two each. Cincinnati, Iowa, Nebraska, North Carolina, Oklahoma State, Oregon and Stanford each have one pledge on the list.

Seven prospects who weren't in the Preseason SI99 release in August made the final cut following strong senior season efforts. The highest ranked among them is Bellflower (Calif.) St. John Bosco interior offensive lineman Earnest Greene, who signed with Georgia. Fellow newcomers include edge Trevion Williams (Mississippi State), linebacker Sonny Styles (Ohio State), slot receiver Aaron Anderson (Alabama), safety Gentry Williams (Oklahoma), quarterback Devin Brown (Ohio State) and edge James Pearce (Tennessee).
