Texas Tech Reported 21 Active Cases of COVID-19 but Will Continue to Practice
Texas Tech reported 21 active cases of COVID-19 within its football program on Tuesday, yet despite the number of COVID cases, Texas Tech will continue to practice.
According to a release from the school All players and personnel that tested positive for COVID have been placed in self-isolation to prevent further spread of the virus.
Affected student-athletes receive daily monitoring and care from Texas Tech's sports medicine staff and also receive additional oversight by the City’s Health Department.
The Texas Tech athletic department has been testing all players and personnel regularly since the beginning of July and as of June, they’ve completed a total of 1,382 tests for COVID-19 among its student-athletes, coaches, and staff with 64 total positive cases.
Under the Big 12's new requirements, the school will soon move to testing three times per week.
