Editors’ note, Feb. 17 at 9:15 p.m. ET: An earlier version of this story misstated that Patrick Mahomes left the Lombardi Trophy. In fact, it was reportedly a replica.

Patrick Mahomes added another all-time moment to his all-time season on Wednesday after appearing to leave the Lombardi Trophy behind during the Chiefs’ Super Bowl parade. The hilarious scene drew plenty of reactions on social media, including a response from a man who knows a thing or two about rowdy championship celebrations.

Tom Brady took to Twitter on Friday to weigh in on the viral video of Mahomes handing off a replica of the NFL’s most-prized award to a fan after taking a picture. And the seven-time Super Bowl champion made it clear that he wholeheartedly approved of the Chiefs star’s championship parade etiquette.

“Looks like appropriate parade behavior to me,” Brady tweeted to Mahomes along with a handshake emoji.

As a man who enjoyed multiple Super Bowl parades in his 23 NFL seasons, Brady can certainly relate to a story revolving around nearly losing the iconic hardware in the midst of a good time. The former Buccaneers QB was infamously involved in his own viral moment with the Lombardi Trophy after controversially tossing it to a teammate while on a boat in 2020.

With Brady now retired and Mahomes seemingly just getting started, many NFL fans will likely insert the two-time champion and MVP into more conversations regarding if he’ll usurp the legend as the “GOAT QB.” But, after the 27-year-old’s memorable parade antics, NFL fans may have to start pitting Mahomes vs. Brady in an entirely different conversation for the “GOAT parade celebration.”
