Coming off a career-high of 117 runs, 34 home runs and 126 RBIs that was capped off by a World Series Title, Anthony Rendon signed a monster $245 million contract with the Angels this offseason. Rendon will hit behind reigning NL MVP Mike Trout in Los Angeles’ lineup.

Sports Illustrated’s fantasy baseball analysis projects a very high floor for Rendon in 2020 and is a great pick at his current Average Draft Position as the 20th player coming off draft boards.

Corey Parson: Hey, What's up, it's Corey Parson, the fantasy executive here with SI.com. Major League Baseball may return at some point this season, and if that does happen, fantasy baseball will also return. Joining me right now to talk some Los Angeles Angels is SI's fantasy and gambling analyst Shawn Childs, and Ben Heisler. Shawn, I'll start with you. Rendon had a career season last year, but now he's going to the Los Angeles Angels. What do you think about him for this upcoming season?

Shawn Childs: I always say in fantasy baseball, if you can hit behind one of the best players in the game or in front of them, you're going to have a great opportunity to score runs and drive in the runs. Hitting behind Mike Trout is going to be a tremendous opportunity. Trout is going to probably get on base, you know, probably well over 100 and something times in half a season, probably 225 in a full season. Rendon is going to be positioned to drive in a lot of runs. His RBI rate has been exceptional 4 years in a row. He finally popped in home runs last year, even though he doesn't have a great home run fly ball rate, but it is still respectable. He does hit a lot of fly balls, so he makes good contact. His approach is really good, doesn't strikeout. Take some walks in the right part of lineup. His batting average trended forward, there is a lot like in him. The only thing missing the Angels' lineup is a great leadoff hitter. If he had that, he would probably have an exceptional RBI chance. I would love to be able to pair him with Mike Trout if I had a front position just for the fun of the two players playing together. So I expect a very good season out of him and a great move by the Angels.

Corey Parson: Ben, fantasy owners are redrafting at this time. What do you think they should do with Rendon? Is he a guy you draft at his ADP or do you want to get a discount on?

Ben Heisler: I think right now he's going off as the No. 4 third baseman off the board. Guys like Nolan Arenado, Alex Bregman, Jose Ramirez are going ahead of him. So you'll probably land him somewhere around the middle to bottom tier of your second round. I think that's actually fairly reasonable for Rendon. Like Shawn said, his ability to drive-in runs is going to go up a ton behind, likely hitting behind hitting Mike Trout in the three-hole. The one thing to keep a note of, especially within Angels' Stadium, when he was playing a Nationals Park last year, they saw the second most homerun hits in 2019, only behind the Rogers Center in Toronto. The ball just flew there. The Angels Stadium finished in 11th last year. He's going to be playing in more pitcher-friendly parks like an Oakland in Seattle. So we might see the homerun totals for Rendon go down just a tad, but he's going to drive in a ton of runs for Los Angeles.

Corey Parson: Thanks a lot, Shawn. Thanks a lot, Ben. For the latest in the majors, make sure you keep a lot right here at SI.com.
