Houston Astros Superstar Made MLB History With Dominant Performance

It was a great day for one of the Houston Astros' biggest superstars as he made MLB history with his monster performance.

The Houston Astros were able to get their second win of the season on April 3 when they blew out the Toronto Blue Jays 8-0 at home.

They needed their star players to step up and deliver after they got off to a much worse start than they had anticipated when leaving Spring Training.

Entering the contest Wednesday in a slump, Yordan Alvarez put together a huge performance to the tune of a 4-5 day with two home runs, a double, and three RBI.

This put the slugger in rare air as he became the third-fastest player in MLB history to reach 250 extra-base hits and 250 walks, accomplishing that feat in 489 games according to OptaSTATS. The only players in the modern era who achieved it faster were Lou Gehrig in 439 and Ted Williams in 463.

Alvarez continues to prove that he's one of the game's best hitters and could go down as one of the greatest that baseball has ever seen if he continues this trajectory.

The 26-year-old already shattered the Astros' record for fewest games to reach 100 home runs when he did it in 372 compared to Lance Berkman's 452. That was the sixth-fastest in MLB history when he accomplished that milestone on April 3, 2023.

With the superstar now finding his bat, Houston is hoping that carries over into their road series against their in-state rival Texas Rangers during the American League Championship Series rematch starting April 5.

Last year the Astros were a much better team away from Minute Maid Park than they were when playing in their home stadium.

That might be the case once again as they struggled out of the gates during their first six games.
