Dodgers Claim Catcher Off Waivers, Move All-Star to 60-Day IL

In this story:
The Los Angeles Dodgers have claimed catcher Chuckie Robinson off waivers from the Los Angeles Angels, but in a corresponding move, L.A. has moved Tyler Glasnow to the 60-day injured list.
Glasnow has been dealing with shoulder inflammation on the 15-day IL since the end of April and will now be shelved for the near future.

The 60-day IL transfer is from when Glasnow was first moved to the injured list on April 28, and per The Athletic's Fabian Ardaya, it wasn't likely that the All-Star would have been back in that timeframe.
It’s 60 days from when he was originally put on there. He probably wasn’t going to be back in that timeframe anyway. https://t.co/jufBL3WVaE

Glasnow was in the middle of a concerning season before hitting the injured list with a 4.50 ERA through 18 innings pitched. He threw 23 strikeouts and allowed 11 walks in this time with a WHIP of 1.278.
This move also comes at a time when the already hampered Dodgers pitching roster suffered another blow with the news that Evan Phillips will require Tommy John surgery. He is out indefinitely and will miss the remainder of this season.

As for the new catcher for the Dodgers, Robinson won't have to move too far as he will head North down the I-5 freeway.
Robinson last played MLB innings for the Chicago White Sox in 2024 and had yet to appear in a game for the Angels. Across his time in Triple-A this season, the backstop hit .272/.315./388 in 27 games, adding 18 RBIs and a home run.
There has been quite a bit of catching news for L.A. this month as top prospect Dalton Rushing was called up to become the new backup catcher for the Dodgers, and one of the longest-tenured position players on the team in Austin Barnes was designated for assignment as a result.
Regardless of where Robinson plays, he will make the most of his moment in the Dodgers organization. As for Glasnow, all fans can do is anxiously wait as he continues to recover and hopefully progress towards a return.
