Snell has been sidelined since April 2, making just two starts for the Dodgers before landing on the IL with a shoulder injury.

In the southpaw's two starts for LA, Snell allowed two earned runs with eight walks over nine innings. He returns to the starting rotation four months later sporting a 2.00 ERA.

The Dodgers headlined the offseason by signing Snell to a five-year, $182 million deal less than a month after winning the World Series. While he has spent most of his inaugural season with LA on the IL, Snell's return to the rotation comes at a crucial time of the year.

The Dodgers rotation has been depleted for most of the season, missing three staple starters in Tyler Glasnow, Roki Sasaki, and Snell. Glasnow has since returned and now Snell is the latest of the trio to make his long-awaited comeback.

As for Gervase, he was acquired by the Dodgers earlier this week before Thursday's 3 p.m. trade deadline. He was added to the active roster Friday, but did not make an appearance for the Dodgers in the series opener against the Tampa Bay Rays.

The right-hander has tossed just 6.1 innings at the MLB level, posting a 4.26 ERA. However, in Triple-A this year, he made 28 appearances, sporting a 3.12 ERA with 63 strikeouts over 40.1 innings pitched.

Snell's return signal the Dodgers moving to a six-man rotation moving forward. Now, the Dodgers rotation features Clayton Kershaw, Shohei Ohtani, Yoshinobu Yamamoto, Emmet Sheehan, Glasnow and Snell.
