He's starting to come around at the plate.

New York Mets outfielder Starling Marte crushed a go-ahead two-run home run in the eighth inning to lift his team over the Cleveland Guardians by a score of 5-4 in Game 1 of a doubleheader on Sunday.

For Marte, this was the first time he has recorded an extra-base hit since April 14 (104 at-bats). Both the Mets and Marte needed that homer in the worst way.

The Mets jumped out to a 3-0 lead, but the Guardians scored four runs in the top of the eighth against the Mets' bullpen. Fortunately, the Mets came roaring back in the bottom half thanks to Marte.

Marte has gotten off to a slow start this season, batting .245 with a .620 OPS, two home runs and 12 RBI. However, he is hitting .348 in his last seven games, as it seems like he is coming out of his slump.

The Mets have won four games in a row themselves behind the likes of Marte, Pete Alonso, Francisco Lindor and the baby Mets: Brett Baty, Francisco Alvarez and Mark Vientos.
