The Baltimore Orioles get a day to think about their two-game losing streak before they start a three-game series with the Boston Red Sox on Tuesday at Fenway Park in Boston.
The Orioles (5-4) started their first road trip of the season at Pittsburgh with a 5-2 win in the Pirates’ home opener. But, the Orioles lost the final two games of the series, 5-4 on Saturday and 3-2 on Sunday.
Gunnar Henderson, Cedric Mullins and Anthony Santander each have two home runs to lead the team. But Santander — the target of trade rumors at times last season — is the first Orioles player to reach 10 RBI this season. Catcher Adley Rutschman still leads the team in batting average at .303. Plus, Rutschman and Ryan Mountcastle are the two Orioles with at least 10 hits so far.
Grayson Rodriguez, who will start in the series with the Red Sox, is the only O’s pitcher so far with two victories.
Reliever Craig Kimbrel recorded his first save with the Orioles on Friday. Per Elias Sports Bureau, Kimbrel became the eighth pitcher to save a game for at least eight different Major League teams, the second-most in baseball history.
Three reliever have a save with nine teams — Octavio Dotel, Goose Gossage and Fernando Rodney.
