Padres vs Reds Delayed on Friday: When Will Game Start?

The San Diego Padres' series opener with the Cincinnati Reds has been delayed due to rain.

First pitch was originally scheduled for 4:10 p.m. PT, and now the matchup is set for 4:20 p.m. PT. The Padres' batting practice was cut short, and the grounds crew was already preparing to put the tarp on the field ahead of the Reds' official announcement.

"First pitch of tonight's #Reds-Padres game will be at 7:20 PM ET," the team announced in a post on X.

Right-handed pitcher Dylan Cease will be on the mound for the Padres Friday night. Cease is 3-6 this season with a 4.43 ERA and 109 strikeouts.

The Padres lineup will face Reds right-handed pitcher Nick Martinez, who is 4-8 with a 4.40 ERA and 63 strikeouts on the season.

The Padres are currently second in the National League West, six games behind the division-leading Los Angeles Dodgers.
