Philadelphia Phillies Linked to Mariners for Blockbuster Trade

In this story:
Deadlines make deals and that could the case for the Philadelphia Phillies ahead of the 2023 trade deadline on August 1st.
It's been well documented they are looking for outfielders on the market to acquire. They've been linked to multiple players and seem to be interested in many, yet they have yet to make a single trade.
That could be changing as one of their desired targets may actually become available.
According to MLB Insider Jon Morosi, the Seattle Mariners are listening to offers on their first baseman Ty France and outfielder Teoscar Hernandez.
The Phillies have looked at upgrading both of those positions. With the ability for Bryce Harper to play first base, the need to trade for one seems to be much lower on the priority list than it was earlier in the year.
The Mariners are looking for young bats in return according to Morosi.
Six out of Philadelphia's top 10 prospects are position players according to MLB.com's rankings. Many of these players aren't projected to hit the major leagues for multiple seasons.
Entering Monday, Seattle is three games above .500 and five-and-a-half games out of first in their division. It seems like a strange time for them to wave the white flag on the season and start selling off parts.
However, if they feel like they can't truly make the playoffs, then they should try and acquire young talent to fit around their superstar Julio Rodriguez.
The Phillies could be the big beneficiary of this decision. The Mariners have two players that fix the holes on the Philadelphia roster. If they're able to pull off this blockbuster trade, they'll be in contention for another deep playoff run.
